In fall of 2024, Virginia Tech began prepping for the launch and opening of its newest building in Alexandria, Virginia. I was the lead designer for all print and promotional materials including overall aesthetic, invitations, signage, event motion work, and navigational ads like metro fare gate entrance ads. This opening was a big step for the university, inviting Governor Ralph Northam, Senator Tim Caine, and heads of tech entities from across the United States. This project needed a level of brand familiarity with Virginia Tech while also being its own, separate voice. The visual identity was crucial in emulating this; with only one primary brand color, I created a suite of visuals that reminded visitors of Southwest Virginia but getting them excited for something different with hot pinks and a new font. This massive project involved a multitude of planning teams both in Alexandria and Blacksburg, Virginia. The live event occurred in February 2025 and some signage remains today as permanent markers of the building's branding.
